Registration is now open for OBEN Soccer Club’s Travel program for the upcoming 2011/2012 Season. Play will begin early Fall 2011 and run through June 2012. Training for the Fall 2011 season will begin in late summer.
All players who wish to participate in a Travel Team “must register for and attend” Travel Tryouts designated for their age group. These Tryouts will take place in early June.
Registration must be completed online at the club’s website at www.obensoccer.org. Click on the “Register Now” button, which will lead to the club’s “Sports Sign Up” page. From there, players can login and register for the “2011/2012 Travel Tryout Session”. A tryout registration fee of $50 must be paid at the time of online registration. This fee will be applied to the season registration fee if a player is offered a position on a travel team. If a player is offered a position on a team and does not accept that position, the tryout registration fee will not be refunded. The tryout registration fee will only be refunded if a player is not offered a position on a team.
The complete Travel Registration Fee for the 2011-2012 year is $525. This fee includes registration for the full Long Island Junior Soccer League year (fall and spring), professional training during the fall and spring seasons through our training organization and insurance. In addition and new for 2011-2012, the Travel Registration Fee includes a full day camp led by our training organization, to be held Aug. 15 – 19th at East Woods School. The Travel Registration Fee does not include uniforms, certain tournament fees or costs associated with winter leagues in which a team may decide to participate.
Travel Soccer is a program designed for committed players and parents. In order for players and teams to develop and excel in all aspects of soccer, they must train two to three times each week and be committed participants on their team. Travel teams are formed and play under the jurisdiction of Long Island Junior Soccer League. The Tryout Schedule located below is organized by age group, from U9-U17. Based on a player’s birthdate, please register for the appropriate age group in the Travel Tryout Session online. Tryouts are open and based on evaluations. It is very important that a player attend as many Tryout Sessions in his or her age group as possible in order to be evaluated in the most complete and fair manner. Please contact the coach/coordinator for each age group for more information. Directions to fields for tryouts can also be found on www.obensoccer.org.

If new to the OBEN Soccer Travel Program, a player must submit a copy of their birth certificate.
Player must log on to their Sports Signup Account (or register a new one) to register and pay for “2011/2012 Travel Tryout Session” and print a copy of the receipt to bring to Tryouts. To access Sports Signup, visit the www.obensoccer.org website and click on the REGISTER HERE button.
Player must bring a passport-sized photo to tryouts or upload a picture of player on line.
ALL players must come with their own ball. Most evaluations include drills and exercises where players each need a ball. Coaches and trainers will not have extra balls on the field.
All players must wear cleats and shin guards.
Tryout sessions are long and tiring – players should be well rested and bring plenty of water.
Players MUST arrive 15 minutes prior to tryout session time to submit all paperwork.
The tryouts are scheduled by age group, from June 1 through June 14.
