William McCreery of New Hyde Park plays for the Frozen Ropes Long Island 10-u Red travel baseball team. The team had an opening day away double-header on April 1 against Garden City.
McCreery pitched a complete game and had his first no-hitter in his first start of the season.
He also threw 10 strikeouts and the team won with a score of 2-0. His coach, Joe Silvestri, tipped his hat to William and said that he didn’t care if it’s a 10-u travel ball, a Division I college ball, or the major leagues, keeping a team out of the hit column for an entire game is a tremendous accomplishment.
