Local Comic Shops Sport Treasure Troves

Superhero strongholds showcase many reading options

Bam! Pow! Do you love comics? Looking for a great place to get your hands on the latest issue of your favorite series? Your quest is only a stone’s throw away. Come down to a local store to check out some of the best books, graphic novels and collectibles near you. Be on the lookout for these three great shops: Grasshopper Comics, Best Comics International and Amok Time. “It’s less a matter of ‘which is the best’” said graphic artist and IDW fanatic Mike Samuel. “It’s more of ‘which store is more likely to have what I’m looking for.’” Keep this fresh in your mind and then you’re on your way.

Grasshopper Comics is located in Williston Park.  They focus on new comics, where they carry hundreds of titles each month, trade paperbacks and graphic novels.

“We carry about 5,000 different trade paperback titles and get literally every release from most publishers,” said Grasshopper Comics owner John Riley.  “If it’s in print we usually have it.”

They also carry board games, cards and miniature games as well and a special Young Readers section of comics and graphic novels.  Grasshopper’s approach is to have comic books that entertain and appeal to all ages.
