Three students from Schreiber High School have been selected as semifinalists in the Intel Science Talent Search, America’s oldest and most prestigious science competition.
The students, Dillon Drukker, Harry Paul and Simon Shapiro, are among 300 high school seniors that were chosen for the honor. The students have each received $1,000 and their schools also get $1,000 for each student chosen.
Dillon Drukker was selected for a social science project: “The Correlation Between Energy Drink Consumption and Substance Use and the Demography of Consumers.”
Harry Paul was chosen for a science project: “Growing Spine Implant and Test Method.”
Simon Shapiro was chosen for a math project: “Preferential Genetic Expression in Regions Susceptible to Vulnerability in Alzheimer’s Disease.”
“These young students have devoted a significant portion of their lives to research over the past several years,” said Schreiber Principal Ira S. Pernick. We are so proud of them and know that these successes are signs of things to come in their bright futures.”
