Dalers Perform In All-County Festival

Students from all over Nassau County were selected to perform at this year’s All-County Music Festival, which took place throughout the month of January, at the Tilles Center in Brookville.  This year a record number of Farmingdale students were chosen in different categories, including band, orchestra, chorus, and jazz band. In total 103 Dalers were honored. 

 

In addition, several of the students were honored individually. In division II, Devika Arora and Kelly Bergersen performed as vocal soloists; and in the jazz band category, Miles Malanowski played lead trumpet, Cooper Malanowski played lead trombone, and Connor Fawcett played guitar. All three  also performed solo. 

 

From division V, Ellyn Eivers was honored principal chair in the symphony orchestra; and in the symphonic bandstudents Matthew Mackenzie, timpani, Caeley Looney, oboe, and Steven Lensky, clarinet, performed solos.In the jazz category, Tyler Belo and Mike

Fernandez were vocal soloists, Greg DeAngelis was lead trombone, and Matthew Malanowski played piano. Both DeAngelis and Malanowski  also performed solo. 

 

Those who performed in this year’s All-County Festival were picked based on their scores in the New York State School Music Association Adjudication Festival and by teacher recommendation.

 

Before and after school, sometimes even sacraficing their lunch time, Farmingdale teachers worked with students to prepare the challenging All-County Festival music. Farmingdale teachers involved in this exhaustive effort include: Secondary teachers Emily Rhodes,

Sam Gelfer, Barbara Lieberman, Jonathan Bley, Gina Pellettiere, Jessica Mischke, Andy Segale, Matthew Szabo, Danielle Tucker and Claire Zatorski; and Elementary teachers Joe DeAngelis, Matthew DeMasi, Joan Drewes, Katie Duke, Pat Facchiano, Erika Felker, Erica Hartmann, Becky Korn, Jennifer Tower and Therese Mannino.
