In high school, senior and junior students face many decisions. Among them are: “What college will I attend?” and “What will I major in?”
To help students begin to think about their futures, Ms. Regina Nicholas and the Farmingdale High School Art Department host admissions counselors from various art schools and universities.
During the fall months Farmingdale High School’s art department will be hosting Hartford Art School, Farmingdale State College School of Visual Communications, the Art Institutes and Adelphi Unviersity. Students will learn the quantity and genres of work to include in their portfolio, the importance of drawing from observation and the creation of original pieces.
The differences between attending an art school and a university or college with an art department will also be explained. Careers and majors that each school offer are discussed. After the sessions students are more informed and ready to build a college entrance portfolio.
One goal of the Farmingdale High School art department is to guide students in making informed decisions about their future in the arts. These visits are one of the steps in the
preparation of our young artists.
