
The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Mineola announced the return of Dr. Jimmy Lee Brown its concert series on Sunday, January 11 at 2 p.m.
Brown, baritone/countertenor, is a native of New Orleans. He began voice and piano studies at the age of 7. His first singing role was with the New Orleans Metropolitan Opera.
Dr. Brown is distinguished as a music educator, recitalist, organist and director of music who has extensive experience both nationally and internationally. He has served as a music educator in public and private schools, colleges and universities. Brown’s high school choral music groups have performed in some of the world’s renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
In 2011, his choral group in Bermuda, The Berkeley Institute Choral Performance Troupe, performed for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh. Brown currently serves as director of Choral/Voice music at Long Island Middle and High School.
The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour is located in Mineola on the corner of Jefferson and Willis Avenues, two blocks south of Jericho Turnpike. (132 Jefferson Ave.) The concerts are approximately one hour long and are followed by a reception in the parish hall. There is no charge for the concerts. Free will donations are gratefully accepted.
