Traffic Study Never Gained Traction
Maybe seven or eight years ago, the Town (of North Hempstead) spent from what I can imagine a good amount of money on a Plandome Road Traffic Study. The study covered from Edison’s all the way to Northern Blvd…so many of us went to the High School and listened to the presentation…it was magical! It was too good to be true. Built in brick walkways, bulb out corners, pedestrian crossing signs, and finally a soft raised “ island” that would run down the center of Plandome Road. No more insane U-turns I thought…
Well…not so fast! Here we are in 2015 and maybe 10 percent of that plan was ever done…An improved walkway by train station on Park and better turn lanes for southbound traffic on Plandome Road….That’s it.
I don’t consider myself a negative person, but I am extremely skeptical of anything “ real” ever getting done.
You want a beautiful “Main Street “ in your town that is safe and you can be proud of?…You better move to Huntington, Northport, Garden City or even Babylon Village…because I am absolutely convinced it will never happen here in Manhasset.
