Founder of Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Daniel Reitman collects pet food and other items for local shelters.

With the holidays right around the corner, Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting is hosting their 6th Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive. Donation boxes will be distributed to participating businesses so that members of the community can help give back to animals in need.

The company will collect all pet-related items including, but not limited to, food, treats, leashes, collars, bowls, beds and toys. These items will be distributed to local animal shelters that could use an extra hand this holiday season.

Did you know that the average cost of basic food, supplies, medical care and training for a dog or cat living in a shelter is $400 to $700 annually? You can help alleviate these costs by donating some items that your pet doesn’t need anymore.Last year, Dan’s Dog Walking worked with Rock CAN Roll Inc. to collect and distribute these items to members of the community in need. In 2014, it collected more than 2,500 pounds of pet-related items and would love your help in collecting even more this holiday season.

This year the company is collecting items to benefit the wonderful team over at Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter in Port Washington and Animal Lovers League in Glen Cove. “We are looking forward to spreading some holiday cheer with all of this year’s donations,” said Daniel Reitman, founder.
