St. Peter’s CYO girls 5th-grade basketball team has been awarded CYO’s highest award—the Sportsmanship Award.
The team was selected to win the award by the coaches in the league.
“In addition to winning the 2015-16 CYO Girls Basketball Sportsmanship Award, the girls on this team had a successful season on the court, making the playoffs in their first season playing in the highly competitive ‘A’ division,” said Head Coach Michael Schmitz.
The team’s record is 6 wins, 6 losses. Assistant coaches are Mark Sparber and Amy Ventura.
The team received their award on Feb. 26 at a ceremony at Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead.
