Got Soul, Give Sole For Autism Speaks
shoesautism_092816bshoesOn Sunday, Oct. 2, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., County Recycling’s Shoes For The Cause will host the first annual shoe drive as part of this year’s Autism Speaks Walk at Jones Beach, field 5.
Shoes for the Cause will be collecting all used women’s, men’s and children’s shoes, boots, cleats and leather goods (handbags, jackets, gloves, belts) the day of the event. The event is scheduled to have over 30,000 area participants and Shoes for the Cause is hoping to collect over 100,000 pounds of footwear for which Autism Speaks will receive an impressive monetary donation based on the total pounds collected. Those wishing to help out are asked to gather up all the used footwear and leather goods as you can and come on down and drop them off at the start of the event. The Shoes For The Cause team will be there at 8 a.m. to accommodate early dropoffs.
For Port Washington residents wishing to donate their used shoes and leather goods, a donation zone is currently placed at their corporate headquarters at Autism Speaks at 382 Main St. in Port Washington. Arrangements can be made to pick up any large group or corporate collections by contacting info@countydonations.us or calling 800-261-7099.
