Sewanhaka High School’s lacrosse team hosted an event to celebrate 80 years of lacrosse at the school on Jan. 20.

More than 100 people attended, including the master of ceremonies, National Lacrosse Hall of Famer and longtime Cornell University lacrosse coach, Richie Moran. Moran graduated from Sewanhaka in 1955. Alumni who visited were able to take a tour of the new facilities at Sewanhaka School and enjoyed a boys’ basketball game. The event included a candlelit tribute to former coaches and players who have passed away.
“The lacrosse celebration was an amazing day,” current coach Peter Burgess said. “I’m really excited that our boys had the opportunity to experience and meet the vast network of alumni. The camaraderie and stories shared were unparalleled. So many lacrosse greats came through Sewanhaka High School, and I am truly humbled to be part of such a decorated tradition.”
