Halloween, which is the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day, is a day marked by costumed kids trick or treating and visiting neighbors they might not otherwise cross paths with the rest of the year. Jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, ghouls, witches, warlocks and pumpkins a-plenty are hallmarks of this holiday that’s a favorite for children of all ages.

Hicksville residents are clearly not shy about showing their affinity for this day that translates to mean “Saints’ evening.” Local resident Mindy Marcus was quick to notice the Halloween fervor fellow residents showed and photographed a number of these displays.

One of the more creative Hicksville residents is Jody Ridgwell of 2 Ninth St. This year she went all out with help from her dad in which the duo poured considerable sweat equity and time into creating one of the more frightening displays in the community. The following are some of the highlights.
