Here’s everything you need to know about Nicole Aloise, Democratic candidate for Nassau County District Attorney in the 2025 elections.
Nicole M. Aloise is running for district attorney in Nassau County in 2025 after spending 16 years working as a prosecutor in both Nassau and Queens. She has a proven track record of prosecuting hundreds of cases, putting high-profile murderers, MS-13 gang members, drug dealers, and gun criminals behind bars.
Aloise began her career at the Queens District Attorney’s Office in 2008 after obtaining her juris doctor from St. John’s University School of Law. As a Nassau County senior litigation council for the Major Offense Bureau, Aloise made it her top priority to prosecute dangerous gang members, including prosecuting a Crips Gang member who attempted to murder two Nassau police officers and prosecuting MS-13 members accused of murdering an 18-year-old.
A strong advocate of police officers, Aloise has stood up to Democrats in her party, calling for the repeal of New York’s “no cash bail” law. Her strong track record of seeking justice for victims of violent felonies and homicides has earned her the endorsement of New York State Troopers.
Aloise is a mom of three. Her family resides in Garden City, where she is an active member of the PTA, a soccer coach for one of her son’s travel soccer teams, and an adjunct professor at Molloy University in the Legal Studies Department.
Why are you running for Nassau County District Attorney?
Under Anne Donnelly, crime is up 44% in Nassau County, and that is not acceptable. We are failing to keep families safe because of mismanagement and politics being put ahead of competent leadership. Throughout my 16 years as a prosecutor, I’ve built a proven track record locking up violent felons and seeking justice for victims of violent crimes. I’m running for district attorney to restore the office to the level of service and professionalism Nassau County experienced under Kathleen Rice and Madeline Singas and to ensure what matters most: a safe Nassau County now and in the future.
What do you believe are the top 3 issues Nassau County is facing, and what would you do about them as district attorney?
Since Anne Donnelly took office, index crimes in Nassau County have risen almost 50%, including an almost 20% increase in violent crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
My first priority as district attorney will be to hold dangerous criminals accountable while also addressing the rise in property crimes and non-violent offenses that jeopardize the safety of our neighborhoods. I will invest in and prioritize essential crime prevention programs and work with community leaders, including mental health programs, after-school programs, and violence prevention efforts.
My office will also collaborate closely with local law enforcement and key stakeholders – including the NCPD and village police departments – to strengthen our community’s safety and well-being.
Additionally, the opioid crisis has touched all corners of Nassau County, an issue that continues to evolve, while Anne Donnelly and her approach have not. I plan to address the fentanyl epidemic through every means currently available, along with advocating for stiffer penalties for drug-dealing offenses, such as the enactment of a “death by dealer” statute for New York State. Those who are addicted to or experimenting with drugs deserve help. Those who deal fentanyl deserve prison.
Further, there has been a concerning increase in hate crimes, especially against those in the Jewish and AAPI communities. I will address the prevalence of hate crimes by strengthening the Hate Crimes Bureau in Nassau County, ensuring the bureau is properly trained, and providing it with the necessary resources to respond to the complex nature of these incidents.
