North Hempstead Town Clerk candidate Jason Lew: Election 2025 Guide

Headshot

Here’s everything you need to know about Jason Lew, candidate for North Hempstead Town Clerk in the 2025 elections.

Jason Lew is a first-generation Chinese American, born and raised in Queens, and a resident of North Hempstead for 10 years. He is an alumnus of the State University of New York at Buffalo and has 15 years of experience in corporate finance, working at the largest global investment banks, and is currently a small business owner. He is also the president of the Greater Roslyn Association for Chinese Enrichment.

Why are you running for North Hempstead Town Clerk?

I’m running for North Hempstead town clerk to fix a broken system where some elected leaders have become out of touch with the real issues facing our town, making decisions based on convenience rather than what is right for our residents. We need to get back to a government rooted in transparency, service, and trust.

In addition, our town’s greatest strength lies in its diversity, and as a first-generation Chinese American, I believe it’s time our leadership reflects and represents everyone who calls North Hempstead home.

With 15 years of experience in corporate finance, as a small business owner, and serving as the president of the Greater Roslyn Association for Chinese Enrichment, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of building connections and ensuring every voice is heard to make the positive progress we all need.

My goal is to bring both professional expertise and community focus to make North Hempstead a place we are all proud to call home.

What are the top 3 issues North Hempstead is facing, and what would you do about them as town clerk?

  1. Outdated and Inefficient Office Operations: The current process for requesting information from the clerk’s office is outdated, leading to unnecessary delays and frustration for residents. With my experience in process efficiency and system implementation, I will modernize and optimize how this office operates — adopting technology to simplify permits, licenses, and record requests so the Clerk’s office can deliver faster, more reliable services.
  2. Lack of Transparency and Accessibility: Today, many communities feel unheard and want leaders who value the input of their residents. As town clerk, I will build stronger relationships with all communities in North Hempstead through community engagement – hosting public forums and mobile office hours to give residents a platform to voice their concerns.  And to support the growing diversity of our town, I will look to deliver language services so every resident can get the information and support they deserve.
  3. Lack of Accountability: Residents often feel disconnected from how the clerk’s office operates, with limited visibility into processes and timelines, leaving many feeling frustrated just to get information and services they deserve. This has led to frustration and a loss of trust. As town clerk, I will establish clear service standards so residents know what to expect, plus implement a feedback system to address concerns—holding myself fully accountable for the performance and responsiveness of this office.
