Trustees Jennifer Steward and Michael Longobardi have won reelection unopposed in Floral Park on Wednesday, March 18, according to voting results from Village Clerk Joseph O’Grady.

He said that Stewart received 199 votes and Longobardi received 215.

O’Grady said there were no notable write-in campaigns.

Ballot totals were down from last year’s village elections, when Mayor Kevin Fitzgerald, Deputy Mayor Lynn Pombonyo and Trustee Frank Chiara were reelected with 263, 261 and 265 votes, respectively.

The village had a population of around 16,000 in 2024, according to Census data. American Community Survey data indicate that about 77% of the village’s residents are over 18, suggesting about 12,000 residents may be eligible to vote.

Voter eligibility numbers are extrapolated from publicly available government data and carry a margin of error of around 10%. Floral Park could not provide accurate eligible voter totals as of March 19.

Both trustees ran with the Citizens Party of Floral Park, which, according to its Facebook page, has governed the village for 70 years.

Stewart is entering her second elected term and was originally appointed to the position in 2021, after Mayor Kevin Fitzgerald took his current office, vacating his trustee seat.

“I look forward to continuing to serve with dedication and a focus on what matters to our residents,” she said. “I am thankful for the trust the residents of the Village of Floral Park have placed in me. I am very blessed to have the support of my husband and family as I enter a third term of service to the Village of Floral Park.”

She was born and raised in Floral Park and has a background in education. During her previous term, she served as the board liaison for the fire department and the Cultural Arts Committee.

Longobardi, also born and raised in the village, has been a trustee since 2022. He works in accounting and has served as the liaison to the building department and for the village pool and recreation.

“Thank you to all of the residents. I appreciate the trust and support they put in me. I consider it an honor to serve,” he said. “Floral Park is home to me. My goal is to maintain Floral Park, keep it a great place to live, and continue to serve the residents.”
