Ford Recall Expands to 1.2 Million

Ford is recalling over a million F-150 pickup trucks after reports surfaced that air bags could deploy without warning, injuring drivers and passengers.

The recall now covers 1.2 million of the 2004 and 2005 models of one of America’s best-selling trucks. According to the Associated Press an electrical short can cause the air bags to deploy without a crash.

Ford gave in to pressure from regulators who asked Ford to widen the recall that began back in February when Ford said it would fix the problem in 150,000 trucks.

There were reportedly 269 cases of air bags deploying according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Associated Press reported. The early deployments resulted in 98 injuries, according to the NHTSA.

Ford announced that they will tell customers next month to take the pickup truck to a dealer, to replace the wire in the steering wheel.
