BOE Honored for Service and Dedication

Trustees of the Hicksville Board of Education are essential to the success of the school district and were honored during the Oct. 20 Board of Education meeting by district administration and student representatives. Superintendent of Schools Maureen Bright awarded each trustee a certificate of appreciation and made laudatory remarks on the Board’s behalf.

“They give generously and tirelessly of themselves to ensure that the children of our community receive a quality education,” she stated. “They do so because they truly believe in service – because they are committed to making their community the best that it can be – but first and foremost, I know that they do it for the children.”

On behalf of the student body, Hicksville High School Student Government President Andrew Stockstad, Student Government Vice President Joseph Henn, and National Junior Honor Society President Molly Brennan thanked the Board for providing the students with opportunities to participate in the district’s abundant activities and educational programs. The students then presented each trustee with a yellow rose and a certificate.

“Thank you for your kind words and for being leaders in your schools,” Board President Anthony Edelman told the students-presenters upon receiving this recognition.
