13 the Musical

Presented by Triple Threat Studios. This fun and energetic show follows the story of Evan Goldman as he moves from New York City to Appleton, Indiana (“The Lamest Place in the World”). His attempts to be popular and get all the cool kids to come to his bar mitzvah provide a comic glimpse into the hazards of navigating a new middle school. The talented teenage cast will be performing four shows this weekend. Dec. 16, 17 at 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 18 at 3 and 7 p.m. at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pky., Hicksville. Tickets are $10 each.

Annie Get Your Gun

Based on real-life sharp shooter, Annie Oakley, born Phoebe Anne Moses in Ohio 1860, she performed with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. According to Newsday, on July 3, 1922, 62 year old, Annie Oakley gave her final shooting exhibition at the Mineola Race Track. Annie and her husband, Frank Butler rented a house in Amityville in the 1920s. Includes the classic Irving Berlin songs There’s No Business Like Show Business, Anything You Can Do and They Say It’s Wonderful. Performances Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at Temple B’nai Torah, 2900 Jerusalem Ave. and Oakfield, Wantagh. Presented by the TBT Junior Players. John Nitty Autographs for Joey Foundation

John Nitty, running back for the Jets in the 80s will be signing charity autographs to benefit the Joey Foundation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tri County Flea Market on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. Trees of Love Lighting Ceremony

Last Hope Animal Rescue will be continuing a holiday tradition at the new shelter, the Last Hope Adoption Center, 3300 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh, from 4 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served after the illumination ceremony. Previous to the lighting of the three decorated trees, participants purchase ribbons for $10 each. Red ribbons honor living pets and silver ribbons memorialize late pets. Pet’s names are written on the ribbons. A third tree is decorated in silver ribbons too, but these are to remember the countless discarded pets throughout the country euthanized each year at overcrowded shelters. Supporters can also purchase these symbolic ribbons. All “Trees of Love” proceeds benefit Last Hope’s rescued dogs and cats plus our community outreach programs such as Fix-A-Feral. A Christmas Carol

Among the holiday tidings and seasonal traditions in Hempstead Town are the Annual Children’s Shows presented by the Department of Parks and Recreation. A Christmas Carol will be held at 1 p.m. at Levittown Hall, Levittown Pky., Hicksville. Leukemia Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

Ashley Tonno will be holding a fundraiser to benefit the Team in Training of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society at R.C. Dugan’s in East Meadow from 4 to 8 p.m. Suggested donation is $40 per person and includes open bar, buffet. Raffles and entertainment will also be available. Christmas Pageant

The children of Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, would like to invite you to their Christmas Pageant “Do You Hear What I Hear?” at 10:30 a.m. They will be joined by the Chime Choir and the Chancel Choir who will be presenting a world premier of the anthem Three Kings by British composer Harold Jones, with text based on the famous poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Christmas Eve Dinner for Families in Need

United Skates of America, a roller skating rink, is once again leading the way for small business owners and managers to come together this holiday season for the good of the LI community. United Skates will be hosting the 5th annual dinner for families in need on Christmas Eve this year. Last year’s event was able to serve over 300 people. Business owners and managers are being asked to support the event by donating trays of food, coats, new toys, and helping to find volunteers to help with the event that evening. Event companies can bring down entertainment that evening and help decorate. United Skates is asking that businesses email or call with questions or to inform what their donation for the evening will be. If you a part of a school or organization that would be willing to host a drive for toys, coats, or toiletries, they will all go to great use. The Soldiers’ Angels Organization needs individually wrapped prepackaged from manufacturer items: hard candy, Life Savers, licorice, gum, jaw breakers, gum balls, mints, jelly beans, sunflower seeds, nuts, crackers, pretzels, Slim Jim beef jerky (beef only – no pork products), Trail Mix, dried fruit, granola bars, protein bars. Wreath Sale

Engine Company Five of the Levittown Fire Department is hosting it’s 28th Annual Wreath sale. •Levittown Historical Society. If you are interested in helping collect memorabilia, photographs, appliances and furnishings from the early days of Levittown, come down for an interesting evening. •Levittown Community Council. Levittown and Island Trees organizations and residents are invited to monthly meetings of the Levittown Community Council held at 7:30 p.m. at Levittown Memorial Education Center in the Panther Room on the fourth Monday except in July and August. Informational programs relevant to the community are presented and refreshments are served. Meetings are open to the general public. Membership in the council is for residents and organizations in the areas comprised by the Levittown and Island Trees school districts.

Levittown’s Brass and Percussion

A nonprofit organization that will teach kids, ages 8 to 88, to play an instrument and have fun parading, performing, competing and many social events. Free of charge. Beginners or experienced musicians welcome. Free transportation and instruments if needed. Cosmetology Program

Levittown Career and Technical Center at Abbey Ln. is offering the public salon services performed by students on Fridays from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pricing for a haircut, shampoo and style, and manicure is $3. Child and Adult Food Program

All children in attendance will be offered the same meals at no separate charge, with no physical segregation of, or other discriminating against, any child because of race, color, age, national origin, sex or handicap. •Beginners Hebrew course, sponsored by Hadassah, will be held at on Mondays at 7 p.m. Instructor Murray Zwerling. For those who would like to learn or improve their basic Hebrew reading.

•Introduction to Jewish Prayer on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. Text: To Pray as a Jew by Rabbi Haim Donnin. Instructor Rabbi Alan Lavin. The course is designed for those who would like to learn the history, meaning and structure of the siddur.

•Sisterhood Book Club – If you have an interest in reading, the Sisterhood Book Club is for you. Join other women to discuss interesting books. Call the synagogue office for more information about the Book Club and Sisterhood events.

Levittown Historical Society and Museum

The organization collects, preserves and educates history of Levittown. Holds seven yearly general meetings in the Community Room of the Levittown Library and maintains the museum located in the Levittown Memorial Education Center, Room 10, 150 Abbey Ln., Levittown. The museum contains history of Levittown, WWII memorabilia, artifacts from the Levitt houses, toys, furniture, clothing of the ‘40s and ‘50s, replicas of the Levitt kitchen and the Levitt ranch living room.
