Balanese Dance Program

BALAM, a New York City-based company, offers a new vision of contemporary dance by fusing ballet, modern and diverse cultural dance styles with Balinese theatre. Dynastic Beauty features Nani Devi, BALAM’s resident Balinese guest artist, and Carlos Fittante, artistic director, presenting a live dance performance of three traditional Balinese choreographies accompanied by an original video on Balinese culture with recorded narration by BALAM’s founding director, Islene Pinder. Noon to 1 p.m. A donation of $3 per person is requested to cover the cost of a light lunch served at the conclusion of the program.

Smart Growth, Pedestrian and Traffic Concerns and Nassau County Correction Center issues. The Merrick Avenue Civic Association is hosting an East Meadow town meeting. Issues on the agenda will be smart growth planning, attracting new businesses to the area, pedestrian safety, traffic concerns and issues at the NC Correction Center. The majority of the meeting will be open for community participation, questions and answers. Guest speakers include a representative from the NYS Department of Transportation and representatives from the Sheriff Officers Association, the union which represents the Correction Officers at the NC Correction Center. 7 p.m. at the East Meadow Library, 1886 Front St., East Meadow. Soldiers Angels sends care packs to deployed troops all through the year. Cards and letters for our deployed troops, local veterans and for our wounded heroes are also needed. Port North Spring Boys Basketball
Port North is a 3-year-old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. The program currently has a combined record of 30-3 in the winter super league. The emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. The team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. We are currently looking for experienced and dedicated basketball players in grades 4 through 10 who are interested in trying out for spring and AAU basketball.
