Ten years after her shocking death at age 30, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes is being remembered.

“Left Eye” was best known for rocking a condom on her left eye and preaching safe-sex and self-reliance.

TLC is regarded as the most successful all-girl group in history. The Grammy-winning trio sold more than 21 million copies between all three of their albums: 1992’s Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip, 1994’s CrazySexyCool and 1999’s Fanmail.

Lopes was known for being a creative force in the group. Not only did she rap but she also wrote one of their biggest hits “Waterfalls” and   “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg.”

Earlier in her career “Left Eye” got the reputation for being a hot head. After getting into a fight with her boyfriend in 1994, she tried to light his sneakers on fire in the bathtub, but instead wound up burning his entire mansion down when the blaze got out of control.

Lisa’s troubles did not end there. In 1995 the group filed for bankruptcy due to “poor management.”

The spunky member of TLC had gotten in touch with her spiritual side in the late ’90s when she left for Honduras to cut back on her partying.

On April 25, 2002 Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in a car accident in Honduras even though the singer was wearing her seatbelt.

On the tenth anniversary of her death, “Left Eye” is trending on Twitter. Tweeters took to high frequency social network and posted:

“R.I.P Left Eye u was def one of beautiful female rappers,” said @swaggoffical.

“R.I.P. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez. You’re dearly missed,” added @Bonheaur_Beauty.

“Lisa LeftEye Lopez … 10yrs ago today we lost the only female hip hop artist I looked forward to hearing new music from,” @EverSoShyMusic said.

“They should do a hologram of Left Eye performing with TLC,” @BigDaddyNenia thought.
