Mystery Picture Still A Mystery
The June 14 mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot received no calls. That is either because it was too easy, or too hard. Either way, that is interesting and we will wait to identify the photograph.
We did receive an interesting email from Leven Ashby who wrote, “I believe my post was misconstrued when put in the paper. I think I said something to the effect that Bay Shoes and Bernstein’s was the same physical property and the building to the right of that property was the building for Doctor Figman’s office.”
We still disagree with Leven Ashby although we love the wording of the email.
As we remember it from old photographs, Dave Bernstein’s men’s haberdashery was located on West Main Street next to what was Bay Shoes. As we remember it, Herman Bernstein had his department store on South Street, opposite Bay Shoes.
But, we love to learn more about Oyster Bay and welcome comments. Let’s get this all straightened out. And, what was in Bay Shoes before it was Bay Shoes?
