Volunteers at the 7th Annual Earth Day cleanup sponsored by the Levittown Community Council in partnership with the Town of Hempstead collected 800 pounds of garbage from public areas around the Levittown, Island Trees and Wantagh communities.
More than 50 volunteers, including adults, Key Clubbers and students and confirmands working on community service credits, showed up on a somewhat cold and windy day to lend support to the cleanup effort. Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray along with Levittown Community Council directors and members Pat and Don Patane, Mauro and Louise Cassano, Tom Kohlman, Mary Kay Ross, Steve Dalton and Ginny Isola greeted the volunteers and assigned them to areas in and around the community.
Volunteers included Amna Ahmed, Stephani Barreto,Emily Barcia, Anji Bolaji, Ellen Carracino, Nicolina, Macedonio and Chris Cicola, Elena Cuascut, Raquel DeLeon, Samantha DeRienzo, Shari, Gabi, Amna and Sheila Freeda, Nick and Connie Irish, Christopher and Ginny Isola, Jonny and Jesse Koenig, Samantha and Shawn Kucmierowski, Andrew Lennon, Christian Magorrian, Laura Maher, Angela Mathew, James Moran, Carol Olivia, Gloria Perez, Joanna Perlman, Janette Ramos, Alicia and Marion Renda, Trevor Ross, Krish and Kim Ryu, Matt and Patty Sepulveda, Arnav Sharma, Joseph Shatarah, Emily Stones, Kayla Strong, Milissa Williams, Tony Woo, and Helen Zheng.
Council President Bob Koenig thanked all of the volunteers as they returned to the starting location at the OfficeMax parking lot with the debris they collected and to return rakes, grabbers, and vests on loan from the Levittown School District and the Town of Hempstead.
