The Nassau County Police Department’s (NCPD) Major Case Bureau reports a shooting in Lake Success, possibly involved with a March 4 robbery and possible related carjacking occurring shortly afterward. NCPD Public Information Commanding Officer Kenneth Lack reported the suspected connection to the Great Neck Record.
According to county detectives, a robbery occurred at the T-Mobile store at 1073 Northern Blvd., on Wednesday, March 4. The investigation regarding the robbery includes the possibility of a related carjacking, which occurred shortly after the incident, on Lakeville Road in the Village of Lake Success. During an attempt to disrupt the carjacking and apprehend the subject, the police further report that a Lake Success police officer discharged his weapon, wounded the subject and placed the subject under arrest.
The police had originally reported this initial robbery earlier in the week, last week. That report identified a robbery in Flower Hill, at the T-Mobile store at 1073 Northern Blvd., in Flower Hill, at 6:20 p.m., on March 4.
The NCPD Public Information Office, in conjunction with the Lake Success Police Department, reports that the Lake Success Police Officer Richard Petrillo, a 14-year-veteran of the Lake Success Police Department, fired three shots at the suspected carjacking scene, striking the defendant twice in one leg and once in the torso. The defendant was taken to a local hospital, reportedly with nonlife-threatening injuries. He remains in the hospital under federal government custody.
The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad is investigating the police involved shooting. The NCPD Major Case Bureau, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is continuing to investigate this incident.
The investigation into these incidents is ongoing, according to police.
