Red Door Spa Opens In Garden City Hotel

The Red Door Spa opened its doors in the amazing Garden City Hotel on Thursday, Jan. 22. It was a stellar evening of paparazzi and on-site tours of the new spa as well as the hotel.
In a lavish ribbon-cutting ceremony at the start of the evening, attendees, surrounded by execs, including Chief Executive Officer Todd Walter from Red Door Spa Holdings and the Garden City Hotel, enjoyed the ambiance of the new 7,000-square-foot spa. The A-list guests experienced on-site interactive mini-spa treatments and a photo booth, along with champagne, wine, delicious cosmopolitans and passed hors d’oeuvres.
Soraiya Rajabali is the general manager of the new Red Door location in the lower level of the hotel. Hairstylist Natale and beauty advisor Gilsella D’Arpa were on hand to chat with guests and potential customers.
The hotel had been in negotiations with Red Door Spas for more than a year. There is already a Red Door Spa in Garden City on Franklin Avenue, which is a cherished bastion by most of Garden City society, as well as by nearby community belles. With the rebranding of the Elizabeth Arden Spa to the Red Door Spa, the company has taken pampering to the next level and created “Speed Services,” which cater to the needs of the busy woman on the go. These services address the desired pampering females adore in the time frame of today’s fast-paced world.
Jamessina Hille, director of marketing and public relations for the Garden City Hotel, said that this spa location is perfect for hotel guests who desire special treatment for themselves or the event they are planning. Romantic getaways for couples can include spa services and couple’s massages. For weddings, the entire wedding party, as well as guests, can take advantage of the available services at the hotel location, and additional beauty needs can easily be accessed, without inconvenience to guests, at the nearby Franklin Avenue location.
The Garden City Hotel is historic. It was first constructed by Alexander Turney Stewart in 1874 and once encompassed the entire property where the hotel and The Wyndham condominiums now stand. The hotel originally had a nine-hole golf course attached to it, which is now the Garden City Country Club. The initial hotel burned to the ground in 1899. The current building is the fourth incarnation, built in 1983 by the late Myron Nelkin. The Garden City Hotel has just received a $30 million makeover and is currently owned by the Fortuna Realty Group, which is part of Preferred Hotels and Resorts. The hotel has been host to the Pierpoints and Morgans, as well as many world leaders, including John F. Kennedy, and Charles Lindbergh before his transatlantic flight to Paris, France.
