North Massapequa’s resident artist, Elizabeth Pultz, will be one of the talented artists in the Chezar Art Studio’s Annual Art Show, which takes place at the Jericho Public Library during the month of November.
Pultz attended Nassau Community College after high school where she majored in liberal arts. However, she did not take any art courses then. Over the years, she worked in the airline business. While bringing up her two boys, she went back to Nassau to finally achieve her dream to paint. Pultz had various art teachers, her favorite being Professor Thomas Germano, who she considers an amazing artist and teacher.
Pultz joined the Chezar Art Studio this past summer to get started with painting again. She is happy to study with Sheila Hershkowitz, concentrating on oil paintings of landscapes. In August, she participated in the American Legion’s Art Auction in Williston Park with Chezar Art Studio, showcasing some of her landscapes. She has also painted many murals with themes such as the story of Noah, storybook castles and animals for Long Island families.
“My favorite mural was one where the mom found her daughter sitting on her bedroom floor in front of a bunny, who was sitting under a tall tree and she was having a very animated conversation,” said Pultz.
Pultz has two grown sons, both of whom are teachers. One lives in Istanbul, where he teaches at an international school. The other son and his beautiful, lovely wife are expecting a child, who will have a special sea-life mural painted by her grandma waiting for her when she’s born.
The month-long show also features paintings and drawings of Chezar Art Studio owner, Sheila Chezar Hershkowitz and the other artists who are attending her studio. In addition, everyone is invited to meet Pultz and the other artists at the opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gallery. Refreshments will be served.
