Norman E. Carpenter, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at his home. He was born in Nassau County, the son of the late Harry Carpenter, Sr. and Jennie Jones Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. Carpenter, and a son, Charles T. Carpenter.
Carpenter is survived by his sons, Michael Carpenter, Norman E. Carpenter, Jr.; daughters, Deborah
R. Dreher, Linda M. Laber and Donna A. Vasic; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. The family also received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, at Austin Knowles Funeral Home,
128 Main St., Port Washington.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at
