Centereach Man Charged With Murdering Wife

A Centereach man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly murdering his 31-year-old wife more than five years after she was found dead near the couple’s home, Suffolk County police said.

Joseph T. Jones, 33, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Nicole Tessa.

The victim’s family had reported her missing two days before she was found dead in a wooded area near the corner of Prince Street and Jefferson Avenue in North Patchogue, where the couple lived, Dec. 21, 2010, police have said.

Canine Section Officer John Mallia and his dog, Blue, found Tessa’s body.

Jones will be arraigned Monday at Suffolk County court in Riverhead.
