Boy Scout Anthony Leva and Cub Scout Vincent Leva of New Hyde Park

Two members of the New Hyde Park Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack 544 recently volunteered their time at Family and Children’s Association (FCA), a Mineola-based nonprofit organization that is dedicated to protecting and strengthening Long Island’s most vulnerable children, teenagers, families, seniors and communities. Anthony and Vincent Leva came on-site on their day off from school to help FCA help Long Island’s seniors.

Anthony fulfilled a portion of his community service requirement by assembling and bagging personal care items into approximately 35 individual gift bags that were subsequently delivered to needy seniors in FCA’s programs. The happy recipients of these colorful and cheerful bags are Long Island seniors who are receiving case management services and in-home assistance from FCA’s Expanded In-Home Services Program (EISEP), whose central office is located in Mineola. The EISEP program is made possible with funds from New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) and the Nassau County Office for the aging.

FCA would like to acknowledge and thank Anthony and Vincent for giving back to their community by choosing one of Long Island’s oldest nonprofit and providing help and hope to Long Island’s needy seniors.

The Senior Division of FCA focuses on safeguarding seniors on Long Island by improving the lives of this growing population and connecting them to vital resources that enable them to remain safely and independently at home. Through the comprehensive services provided, FCA has helped seniors maximize their independence and improving their overall quality of life allowing them to carry out their wish to live out their remaining years in a dignified manner feeling respected and hopeful.
