Mercedes

Allow us introduce you to two of the sweetest cats around. Mercedes is a sweet and rather beautiful 1-year-old kitty who sadly found her way to Almost Home when her owner passed away. She is a pleasure to be around. She loves everyone she meets including other cats!

Jack e1589633328917
Jack

And then there’s Jack who is as handsome as they come. Jack is a loveable and playful ball of energy who is ridiculously friendly with everyone — and we mean everyone! Humans, cats and dogs, there’s no stopping Jack from making friends wherever he goes.

If you can open your heart and home to Mercedes or Jack, please contact Almost Home Animal Rescue at almosthomeli.org or call 631-627-3665 for more today!

Lyric 1
Lyric

Queen e1589634195264
Queen

Pocket pittie in the house!! Meet Queen, y’all! This 4-year-old, short and stocky, 48-pound baby girl came to the TOH Animal Shelter as a stray in April 2020. She is friendly with other dogs, and while she is nervous at first with new people, she quickly warms up. Queen would make a great addition to most homes! If you want to find out more about adopting or fostering this sweetie, please call for more information at 516-785-5220 or email  [email protected]

FOSTER OPPORTUNITY: If you’re cooped up at home, remember that cats and dogs are feeling the same way in their cages at the shelter. If you can open your home to a deserving animal by fostering (or adopting), please call for more information at 516-785-5220 or email  [email protected]

Available for adoption through North Shore Animal League America:

Tangerine and Tootsie
Tangerine and Tootsie

**Double Adoption** Let’s not stand in the way of true love! When 6-year-old Tangerine (adoption #BF3238) and 2-year-old Tootsie (adoption #L80521)—rescued separately—fell head over heels for each other in the cozy comfort of cage-free Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, NSALA decided to take a vow promising  their future would be  together in a safe home. Originally, each sweet friend hid shyly in the nooks of the room waiting to find a soulmate. Nowadays, they can be found wrapped around each other dreaming of spending the rest of their lives together. All that’s missing from this love story is a quiet home with children 12 and older in age as dedicated to loving them as they are to each other. If you’re looking for love in all the right places, begin your search with Tangerine and Tootsie!

Rascal
Rascal

Fifteen-year-old Rascal (Adoption SPC215) recently lost his home when his beloved owner and trusted friend passed away. This special senior was so loved by his family that his care was pre-planned and provided for through NSALA’s Safe Haven Program. Rascal will be loved and cared for by the Animal League America family until a special someone offers him their heart and gives him the second chance in a home he so deserves. Their Medical Team created a plan to care for his hyperthyroidism at low cost through our fully accredited Pet Health Centers in Port Washington. Rascal has a lot he wants to tell us about how grateful he is to be safe and cared for. His heart is open to finding love again. Will it be with you?

Loretta Lynn
Loretta Lynn

Loretta Lynn (Adoption #G25256) would like a private audience to serenade. This lovely 4-year-old lady from Georgia is shy at first, so a quiet home will help her make beautiful music with you. Just a little time and patience and before long you’ll make a delightful duet!

Whisper
Whisper

When 10-year-old Whisper (Adoption #H198858) lost her cherished soulmate, she lost her home as well but she is settling in comfortably at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. Whisper was well-loved in her previous home so we’re determined to find an equally loving place in which she can retire. It’s no surprise that the recent changes in her life have quieted her spirit, but she’s remarkably resilient and bows her head for more ear rubs. If your hands are free right now, why not use them than to carry Whisper off to her happy new beginning.

Timber
Timber

Twelve-year-old Timber (Adoption #BF3259) has had a lot to get used to since he left behind the quiet home he’d known his whole life and became a part of the Animal League America Family. Fortunately for him, he’s safe in their senior room at their cage-free Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center while he awaits his second chance. After a thorough look from NSALA’s medical team, Timber was diagnosed with a heart condition, which is a covered medical condition when cared for through their Pet Health Centers in Port Washington. Timber had experience with other pets in the home and is a wonderful choice if you’re looking for a companion for your fur kids. This timid gentleman is relying on us to help him find a permanent, peaceful place to spend his golden years. You can break the ice with gentle petting sessions that will leave him begging for more.

Hazel
Hazel

Back in February, Mama Hazel and her two 1-week-old babies were rescued in Bellmore. Thanks to the wonderful efforts of a foster, Hazel’s kittens have found their way to a forever home, and now it’s Hazels turn! At just 1 ½ years old, Hazel is a very friendly, loving lady who would make a great pet to any household. If you’re interested in adopting Hazel, fill out an adoption application  at lasthopeanimalrescue.org

Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter:

Peggy
Peggy

Peggy is the Purrfect Pal! This 7-month-old female Domestic Shorthair is looking for a caring home. She came to the shelter as part of the Trap-Neuter-Release program, and she instantly started looking for affection. Peggy is gentle, and sometimes can be a little shy, but she loves to be loved by people! She’s great with children and would do well in a home with other feline friends. In the past, Peggy had to deal with a ruptured ear drum, but she has since improved her condition and is now feeling much better and happier. She has learned to come out of her shell recently, and she would love the opportunity to socialize and make new friends! Her perfect home would be a quiet place where she can cuddle, lounge around, and play all day.

Currently, there are a variety of male and female cats and kittens available to adopt or foster. If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two! All of the felines at the Shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc) by a board-certified Veterinarian.

COVID-19: Foster Opportunity: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Smithtown Animal Shelter has had to restrict public access, including loyal volunteers. If you have no other pets or young children at home and are looking for a way to serve your community in this time of crisis, please consider signing up to be a foster. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens, and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for extended periods of time. As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
