On Tuesday, Aug. 19, world-renowned pianist, Steinway Artist and Juilliard faculty member Orli Shaham will hold a masterclass in Manhasset at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Long Island.
Registration for the masterclass, which is part of the new Future Young Steinway Artist Program from Steinway & Sons, is open to the public but required in advance.
The masterclass will include a performance from Shaham as well as performances from three high-level piano students affiliated with Steinway & Sons, with Shaham providing feedback and guiding the students through the pieces.
When speaking on the masterclass, Alexis Leon, the director of marketing at Steinway & Sons, said Steinway is incredibly grateful for Shaham’s ability to guide the next generation of pianists during the masterclass, highlighting that she is one of the most well-known pedagogues in the area.
“To give students at a high, high school level the opportunity to perform for a Juilliard piano faculty is something that doesn’t happen very often,” said Leon.
Shaham has performed in venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. She currently serves on the piano and chamber music faculty at the Juilliard School.
Her most recent album, a release of the final volumes of the complete Mozart piano sonatas, received critical acclaim.

The masterclass in Manhasset is one of two conducted by Shaham on the 19th as part of the program, with the other being held at Steinway Hall in New York City.
The Future Young Steinway Artist Program is currently holding auditions and is offered to young pianists between the ages of 5 to 17.
The program gives young musicians access to over 20,000 Steinway artists in the United States, including Long Island legend Billy Joel and Henry Connick Jr. Those selected will also have access to masterclasses and special events aimed at giving them confidence in their performance abilities.
The Steinway Piano Gallery of Long Island often hosts events and special exhibits, including a recent exhibit that showcased Lady Gaga’s piano.
