Election Guide 2025: Glen Cove City Council candidate James M Greenberg, Rep., Con.

Greenberg-James-

James Greenberg is honored to have the opportunity to be a candidate to represent the citizens of Glen Cove on the 2025 Glen Cove City Council ballot.

A proud Glen Cove resident for almost 25 years, Jaime has been passionately involved in the community in various capacities since 2002.

As an adoption attorney, Greenberg understands and is sympathetic to the challenges and headwinds that families face on a day-to-day basis at all socio-economic levels.

As the proud father of two children, Ariana and Sean, who graduated from the Glen Cove City School District, Greenberg understands the challenges and the opportunities that confront our younger community members.

He wants to make sure that we leave them an even better Glen Cove, a Glen Cove where they can thrive, be happy and be successful in the hope that they will raise their families here and continue to build when it is their turn to take the reins.

Greenberg has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Skidmore College where he was also a four-year varsity soccer player.

After college, he studied law at Hofstra University where he met his wife Janice.  Armed with his law degree, he joined and eventually took over his family adoption law practice (Greenberg & Greenberg), specializing in complex adoption cases.

When he is not helping families through his adoption practice, Jaime’s greatest passion is public service and strengthening the Glen Cove community. He became a member of the Glen Cove Republican Committee in 2002 and has been active in the Republican Club for more than two decades, where he rose to the role of president.

Over the years, Greenberg has worked on numerous local campaigns, giving him valuable insight and hands-on experience with the way government works at both the city and county level.

In 2009, Greenberg began coaching his daughter Ariana’s soccer team in the Glen Cove Junior Soccer League.

What started as a volunteer role on the sidelines grew into years of service, and in 2024 he was elected president of Glen Cove Junior Soccer, where he continues to coach and oversee programs for players from Kindergarten through Middle School.

In May 2022, Jaime was appointed to the Water Authority of Nassau County, where he works on efforts to explore public acquisition of the privately held North Shore water system. The following year, he was appointed to the Glen Cove Planning Board, where he helps guide decisions that shape the city’s growth, economy, and quality of life for residents.

Greenberg is a board member for the Glen Cove Hall of Fame, the Glen Cove YMCA, a member of the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce, a frequent volunteer for the Glen Cove Beautification Committee and is an active member and volunteer at Congregation Tifereth Israel.

Greenberg brings both leadership and legal expertise to the adoption community, serving as director of People Need Caring, a nonprofit that supports families who have recently adopted internationally, and as a board member of Gift of Adoption, which provides grants to help finalize adoptions for children in vulnerable circumstances.

Greenberg’s 20 plus years of dedication to the City of Glen Cove has made him realize that if he is to help the City continue to build upon the great successes of the last four years of the Panzenbeck administration, he needs to move to the next step.

As a member of the City Council he will fight to keep the momentum going and truly believes that through hard work, advocacy and passion he can prove that he truly believes that actions speak louder than words.

As president of Glen Cove Jr. Soccer, I’ve spent years fighting for better fields, safer equipment, and the kind of facilities our kids can be proud of.

Those efforts paid off — and I’m grateful to Mayor Pam Panzenbeck for sharing that vision and helping turn it into reality. Together, we’ve seen what’s possible when leadership listens, collaborates, and delivers for our community.

Balanced development is the key to the city’s future. I will always be in favor of more commercial development as that drives economic growth, however, we need to make sure residential units do not overwhelm our infrastructure, that we do the necessary research and examination of the developer’s application to ensure the density of the project is appropriate for Glen Cove.

I understand there is a need for more housing and affordable housing but there will be a point that our infrastructure, roads, schools and first responders will not be capable of handling the numbers. We need to make sure we strike the correct balance.
