Election Guide 2025: Nassau County Legislature District 19 candidate James Kennedy, Rep. Con.

James Kennedy
Nassau County Republican Committee

A longtime Massapequa resident, Legislator James Kennedy has dedicated his life to serving his community both in and out of public office. A former fifth-grade teacher at Holy Child Academy, Kennedy continues to give back by coaching youth sports and teaching religion at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Kennedy is deeply involved in local civic life, proudly serving as a member of the Massapequa Historical Society, Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Legion, Massapequa Lions Club, Sons of AMVETS Post 88, Friends of the Massapequa Preserve, and the Sons of Italy.

He is also an officer of the Peter J. Schmitt Memorial Foundation, which raises funds for community organizations across Massapequa. His lifelong commitment to service is rooted in faith, family, and pride in the community he calls home.

Kennedy is fighting to keep Nassau County safe, affordable, and family-friendly. He’s proud to have helped make Nassau the safest county in America by hiring more police officers, expanding patrols, and investing in cutting-edge crime-fighting technology.

As a husband, father, and community leader, James is determined to preserve the suburban quality of life that defines Nassau — protecting families, defending taxpayers, and ensuring every neighborhood remains a great place to live and raise a family.

Top Priorities

1. Holding the line on taxes
A strong fiscal watchdog, James stopped a massive Democrat tax hike and has never voted to raise taxes. He will continue to fight wasteful spending, promote efficiency, and protect homeowners through responsible budgeting that keeps Nassau affordable for families and seniors alike.

2. Fighting crime and protecting families
Kennedy has worked closely with law enforcement to make Nassau the safest county in America — hiring more officers, expanding patrols, and investing in modern policing tools. He also partnered with ICE to track and detain criminal illegal immigrants, ensuring dangerous offenders stay off our streets and out of our neighborhoods.

3. Standing up for local control
Kennedy stood up for parents and voted to ban men from competing in girls’ sports, protecting fairness and safety for young women. He continues to oppose Albany’s reckless “Cashless Bail” laws and high-density housing mandates that threaten local control and suburban character.

Kennedy is committed to defending Nassau’s right to make its own decisions and preserving the values that make our community strong.
