Howard Kopel is an accomplished attorney, business owner, and community leader. He founded a national title insurance and settlement services company in Valley Stream, earning a reputation for integrity and results. A graduate of Brooklyn College and Brooklyn Law School, Howard is admitted to practice in New York State and the U.S. Southern District.

Beyond his professional achievements, Kopel’s greatest pride is his family. He and his wife Esther have been married for 51 years, raising four children and cherishing fourteen grandchildren. Together, they are active in local synagogues and community organizations, reflecting a lifelong commitment to faith, family, and service.

Howard Kopel is running to make sure Nassau remains a place where families like his own can thrive.

As a father of four and grandfather of fourteen, he knows the importance of safe neighborhoods, good schools, and an affordable cost of living. Howard is committed to protecting the suburban way of life so that his children and grandchildren—and every family in Nassau—can build their futures here.

Top Three Issues:

Affordability: Kopel cut property taxes by $70 million and stopped $150 million in scheduled tax hikes from the prior administration. He is now leading the effort to freeze taxes again for 2026 so families and seniors can keep more of their hard-earned money.

Protecting suburban communities: Kopel stood against Gov. Hochul’s urban housing plan that would force high-rise apartments into Nassau’s neighborhoods and opposed her “regionalization” scheme that threatened local control over schools. He will continue fighting to preserve the suburban quality of life.

Fighting hate crimes and antisemitism: Kopel has prioritized resident safety by increasing police presence, securing protections for houses of worship, and leading strong action against antisemitic and other hate crimes across the county.
