Over 200 music students from all five Herricks Public Schools – Center Street, Denton Ave. and Searingtown elementary schools, Herricks Middle School and Herricks High School – participated in this year’s annual All-County Music Festival, sponsored by the Nassau Music Educators Association, held from Jan. 6-18.
Following many hours of focused rehearsals with esteemed conductors, students showcased their musical excellence in a culminating performance for an audience of more than 2,400 at the Tilles Center at Long Island University’s C.W. Post Campus in Brookville.
The All-County Music Festival brings together top student musicians from across Nassau County. This year, more than 8,600 students from over 57 school districts were recommended by their school music teachers for consideration.
Of the 1,800 students selected, Herricks proudly celebrated over 200 participants representing band, orchestra, chorus and jazz ensembles.
Herricks director of fine and performing arts Anissa Arnold commended both students and staff for their dedication and commitment to excellence.
“I continue to be very proud of our dedicated and talented Herricks musicians and their school music teachers who foster their musical growth every day,” said Arnold.
The district congratulated all the students who earned this prestigious opportunity and represented Herricks with pride and professionalism.
