A Roslyn doctor has been arrested and charged with a sex offense stemming from an alleged incident during a medical appointment of a cancer patient last year at a New Hyde Park clinic, the Nassau County Police Department reported.

Dr. Mark Hoffman, 71, of Roslyn, was charged with sexual abuse and forcible touching of a 48-year-old female patient during what was described as a routine oncology appointment on May 9, at Optum Hematology Oncology, police said.

Special Victims Squad detectives said the doctor and patient were alone in an examination room at the time and no nurse was present.

Hoffman was arrested without incident on Thursday, March 5, police said.

Hoffman was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at Nassau County First District Court.

Police are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Hoffman to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or the Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022. Authorities said callers can remain anonymous.
