Adventures in Learning will host its spring gala on Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m. at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, 455 Shore Road in Port Washington.
The fundraiser will feature dinner prepared by the yacht club’s catering team, savory dishes themed to the occasion paired with selected wines, and music for dancing. Floral décor will be created by Westhampton designers Debbie and Steve Boehl of Honeysuckle & Roses.
Proceeds from the event will support Adventures in Learning’s after-school academic and enrichment programs for underserved students in Manhasset and Great Neck.
Tickets are $200 for adults and $130 for young adults ages 21 to 30.
This year’s honorees are Kristi and Scott Wede of Manhasset. The couple has lived in the community since 2005 and has been active in local schools, athletics and service initiatives while raising their four children: Kate, 19; Luke, 17; Michael, 17; and Jack, 14.
The Wede family has supported Adventures in Learning through volunteer efforts and an annual book fair for program students. Each spring, the family helps collect gently used books, sort donations and transform the Hagedorn Community Center into a space for students to browse and take home books.
Kate, Michael and Luke have also volunteered with the program. Kate has taught tennis at the organization’s EOC camp, while Michael and Luke have helped lead basketball activities over multiple summers. Jack is expected to begin volunteering more independently once he enters high school.
