The Manhasset Rotary Club will host its annual Mother-Daughter Brunch, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” on Sunday, March 22, at Wheatley Hills Golf Club. The event will honor Barbara Donno, mayor of the Village of Plandome Manor, for her many years of public service and dedication to the Manhasset community.
The elegant brunch, inspired by the timeless style of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature a festive afternoon of brunch, cocktails, entertainment, raffles and prizes.
Donno has long been recognized as one of the community’s most dedicated civic leaders. Before becoming mayor of Plandome Manor, she served nine years on the Manhasset Board of Education, including four years as board president, and has remained deeply engaged in numerous civic, charitable and regional organizations. Throughout her career in public service, Donno has championed community engagement, education and regional cooperation.
The Manhasset Rotary Club selected Donno as this year’s honoree in recognition of her longstanding commitment to strengthening the community and supporting humanitarian initiatives.
Proceeds from the brunch will benefit the Manhasset Rotary Club’s charitable service projects, including Gift of Life, a Manhasset Rotary-founded humanitarian program that provides life-saving heart surgery for children from around the world who would otherwise have no access to treatment.
Since its beginnings in Manhasset in 1975, the Gift of Life program has helped save the lives of more than 65,000 children from more than 80 countries by bringing them to the United States for surgery or by supporting cardiac care programs abroad.
“Every child saved through Gift of Life represents hope restored to an entire family,” event organizers said. “This brunch is not only a celebration of mothers and daughters, but also a celebration of the power of a community coming together to save a child’s life.”
Tickets for the event are $85 for adults and $45 for children ages 12 and under. Reservations include brunch, brunch cocktails, entertainment and the opportunity to participate in raffles and prize drawings.
The event is open to the community. Reservations are requested by March 16.
