Second-grade students at Mineola’s Hampton Street School recently participated in an engaging and hands-on Discovery Day designed to spark curiosity and inspire a love of STEM learning.
Members of the Mineola High School Robotics Team visited the school to showcase their competition robots and share insights into the engineering and programming process.
The high school students demonstrated how their robots are designed, built and coded to complete complex challenges, offering younger students a firsthand look at innovation in action.
Beyond the demonstrations, second graders had the opportunity to become engineers themselves. Working side by side with the robotics team, learners explored Maze Code challenges, programmed Ozobots and operated Dash robots.
These interactive activities encouraged critical thinking, collaboration and creative problem-solving in a fun and supportive environment.
Discovery Day provided an exciting glimpse into the world of robotics and technology, leaving students energized and inspired. The district extends its appreciation to the Mineola High School Robotics Team for mentoring and motivating the next generation of innovators.
