Meet the Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pet of the Week, Eva, a healthy tan-and-white bully breed mix, estimated to be about 4 years old.

Beautiful Eva has quickly become a favorite with everyone who takes the time to know her, and once she trusts you, it’s easy to understand why. This stunning girl is full of personality, affection, and the kind of love that makes a house feel like home. Eva arrived at the shelter as a stray, frightened and unsure of the world around her. With patience, kindness, and consistency, she has blossomed into a loving, playful companion who lights up when she sees her favorite people each day.

At first, Eva can be shy and cautious with new faces, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through — belly rub requests, enthusiastic kisses, happy wiggles, and the charming habit of sitting right on your feet just to stay close. Once you’re in Eva’s circle, you have a loyal friend for life. Eva would thrive in a calm adult home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace, ideally as the only pet or with a carefully matched dog companion. She needs an adopter willing to give her a little time in the beginning, but what waits on the other side is a devoted best friend with endless love to give.

Eva is ready for an adopter willing to look past her initial hesitation and discover the incredible dog she truly is. If you are interested in meeting Eva, please fill out an application to schedule a time to properly interact with your prospective forever-family member in a domestic setting.

Oreo is a one-year-old Terrier mix with a heart as big as his playful spirit! He spent several months in a loving home, but when the family’s daughter developed severe allergies, they made the difficult decision to bring him back so he could find his perfect match. Oreo is bursting with playful energy! He loves fetch, tug-of-war, and zooming around the dog park. He’s eager to please, knows some basic commands, and is happiest right by your side soaking up affection. And bonus — he’s cat-approved from his previous home! With an experienced adopter to continue his training, Oreo will absolutely blossom into the best companion.

Meet Ollie! This six-month-old Lab/Terrier mix with the most adorably floppy ears arrived from Texas absolutely terrified of the world around him. Ollie once cowered in corners, unsure if it was safe to trust. But with patience, consistency, and a whole lot of love from our team, this brave boy has had the most incredible glow-up.  Now? Ollie happily trots right up to say hello to new friends — ears flopping, tail wagging, eyes bright. He’s discovered the joy of playtime and lives for running free in the park, chasing tennis balls, and showing off his playful side.

Ollie can still be a little shy in new environments, so he’ll thrive with a dedicated adopter who understands that confidence takes time. Because of his fearful past, a fully fenced yard is a must -no city or urban living for this sensitive soul. He does well with other dogs (a meet & greet will help find the perfect match!) and would do best in a home with older children who can continue his training journey. From frightened to flourishing, Ollie is proof that love changes everything.

Simon is an eight-month-old terrier mix from Texas with a gentle heart and a cautious spirit. New situations can be scary for him, so he often looks to his people—and the dogs around him—for reassurance. He does best with older children, and everyone in the household should meet him before adoption so he can feel safe and understood.

Simon will need a home with a fully fenced yard and a socially appropriate canine companion to help build his confidence. Because he’s still learning how to navigate the world, he’s looking for an experienced, patient adopter who can help guide him. With time, structure, and a calm canine friend by his side, Simon has every chance to blossom into a loyal companion.

Five-year-old Ophelio’s rescue story began during this winter’s worst storm when he slipped into a rescuer’s home seeking warmth. That bold move led him to a much brighter future. Now enjoying cozy beds, good meals, and plenty of ear rubs, this charming boy is loving indoor life. Vets have a plan to monitor his heart condition—care covered cost through Animal League America’s Pet Health Centers—and Ophelio handled it all like a perfect patient, making him 100% ready to be adopted and go home with you today.

Discovered wandering a local neighborhood, one-year-old Harley is now getting the fresh start she deserves. While her past is a mystery, she’s learning she’ll never have to face cold New York winters alone again. Catnip and chin rubs quickly win over this sweet girl, who would love to be the only pet in her furever home. All Harley needs is a little peace, a little love, and someone to share it with.

*Double Adoption* When the bodega they had called home closed, three-year-old Frye and five-year-old Berg were left behind with no safe place to go—until a hero stepped in and advocated for them to be brought to Bianca’s Furry Friends. Adjusting to a very different life was confusing at first, but before long the pair realized they were finally safe. Together, they discovered that toys, treats, and catnip are a huge upgrade from working the floor of a busy storefront.

They also received something entirely new: premium veterinary care. During Berg’s exam, veterinarians discovered he needed a Ventral Bulla Osteotomy to relieve years of painful ear infections that had caused a head tilt. They also diagnosed a heart condition that will be carefully monitored through Animal League America’s Pet Health Centers for the rest of his life. Want to help them trade in their bodega cat days for life as cherished family members? You could be the hero in their rescue story.

Abandoned on one of his worst days, two-year-old Braveheart didn’t know if he could trust the strangers who took him in. Over time, his brave purr-sona helped him adjust, and he’s come to see his caretakers in our Long Term Care Home as the most supportive family he’s ever known. Now he delights in life’s little luxuries—a sunny window perch for bird watching, treat puzzles, and plenty of catnip to roll around in. Braveheart has shown us how far patience, time, and consistency can go in helping a cat feel safe again. As the only pet adopted into a calm adult home, he won’t need to be brave anymore—just content, loved, and finally home.
