•Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. •POB Senior Citizen Club meeting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays in the All-Purpose Room at the Jamaica Avenue School, 85 Jamaica Ave. For information call 937-6424. The club offers trips, cruises, parties, social and line dancing, art courses for all levels, craft classes, card games, bingo, horseracing, yoga, education programs, etc. Members must be 55 years or older, residing in the POB S.D. are eligible. •Italian Culture Society at Farmingdale meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, Motor Ave. Italian lessons are given by a native Italian teacher. •Introduction to Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations. Meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Patient’s Lounge on 3-West at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview, 888 Old Country Rd. •Hows and Whys of Jewish Customs/Traditions, a series of discussions exploring the hows and whys of Jewish traditions and customs. Rabbi Shmuel Lipszyc will hold half-hour sessions every Saturday at 9 a.m. with informative commentary and insight about deeply rooted Jewish rituals that provides an opportunity for Jews throughout the community to explore how Jewish customs and traditions came about. The public is invited to learn and ask questions. Rather than robotically following rituals and traditions, Jews now can take action to make their spiritual experience more meaningful and fulfilling.

•Modern Day Kabbalah Experience with renowned speaker Rabbi Shmuel Lipszyc. Probe the Depths of the Kabbalah in 30 minutes! Participate in our weekly Shabbat classes. No previous background or religious affiliation required. All welcome. Shabbat mornings from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

•A Woman’s Voice. Discover the answers to life’s deepest and most complex issues. Realize the amazing power that G-d bestowed upon women. Add more meaning to your life. Live a happier life. Determine your inner strengths and bring out your full potential. This class, which is taught by Dr. Bleema Feinstein, takes place every Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Exhibit

Secrets Revealed: Wood Works by Fabrizio Saiu will be on exhibit through January at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library. An award-winning wood designer, Fabrizio Saiu is originally from Milan, Italy. His pieces range from custom-designed furniture utilizing all-natural finishes to wall-hangings using marquetry and intarsia, or inlay, techniques, as well as sculptures. Saiu’s inspiration comes from the monuments, architecture or landmarks of a place, its larger culture, or “found” materials. Open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday; and to 9 p.m. Sunday.
