Chinese Auction

The Nassau BOCES Rosemary Kennedy School PTA is sponsoring a Chinese Auction from 6 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.; auction begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. at the Rosemary Kennedy School, 2850 North Jerusalem Rd., Wantagh. Admission is free. Donations of new merchandise and gift cards/gift certificates are being sought. First Annual Safety Fair For Families

Takes place April 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wantagh Park, 1 King Rd., Wantagh, just south of Merrick Rd., west of the Wantagh State Pky. Adopt-A-Park

As a sponsor, Wantagh Bay Yacht Club is having its Spring Cleanup at 10 a.m. Participants are club members as well as local community residents, organizations and Boy Scouts. Participants can gather to clean up the shoreline, plant flowers, paint and do some minor maintenance in and around the Community Building. March For Babies

A baby’s first steps are one of the most precious moments in life and the March of Dimes believes every baby deserves a healthy first step. Join March for Babies and make sure more babies get that chance. Walk together for stronger, healthier babies. March for Babies will be held in at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. It’s a family-friendly event where the community comes together to raise money to support research, services, education and advocacy in the fight against prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality. Stone Soup Open Mic

Hosted by the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, from 2 to 4 p.m., to benefit the Freeport Emergency Food Pantry. People of all ages and faiths are welcome to participate and attend. Choirs and other groups as well as soloists, instrumentals, poetry and dramatic readings are welcome. Participants should be prepared to perform something appropriate for all ages as there will be young children present. Since this is a food benefit, songs about food will be the sub-theme, but are not required. If you do not have an accompanist, bring sheet music. There is one mic stand, a couple of mics, a keyboard, an organ and an upright piano. Admission to this foodraising event is at least one nonperishable food item per person. Community Relations Council Brunch

Adventures In Music

Temple B’nai Torah, 2900 Jerusalem and Oakfield Aves., Wantagh, and Cantor Steven Sher, with support from the Kliegman Fund, present the final Adventures In Music program for the 2012 winter/spring season: “A Concert of Entartete Musik: Music Banned by the Third Reich,” Tim Ruedeman, saxophone, Steve Beck, piano. The program will be held at noon. A donation of $3 per person is requested. The Chai Club will provide refreshments.

In Good Taste Benefit Event

Support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by attending In Good Taste, a restaurant tasting event at The Carltun in Eisenhower Park. Fine food, winning wines and delicious desserts will be provided by many of Long Island’s premier restaurants, wineries, and bakeries. A Cabaret After-Party will feature singers and a comedian. This year, the addition of a casino will round out the evening. Tickets are $90 per person for the main event and $125, which includes the fantastic After Party. Craft Fair

The Levittown Fire Department Engine Company 7 will be hosting its third Annual Craft Fair at the (old) K-Mart shopping center, 3350 Hempstead Tpke., corner of Gardiners Ave. They will be having approximately 150 vendors and lots of good things for Mother’s Day gifts. All kinds of crafts from jewelry, lawn ornaments, pocketbooks and more. Also featuring a full food court with lots of specialty foods from sausage and peppers to zeppoles, to chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, pretzels and assorted pickles from the famous Pickle Me Pete. Don’t Give Into Arthritis

A public education Arthritis Expo from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bellmore Memorial Library. Participants will choose to attend two out of four workshops on exercise, pain management, nutrition and stress management. There will be entertainment provided by Moonlight Serenaders. Metro PT will be talking about therapeutic procedures for pain relief, modalities, laser, cryotherapy, aquatics, balance and exercise progression to take away pain. Stroke Fundraiser

Stroke Life Society, the East Meadow based, nonprofit organization, will be holding its Second Annual Fundraiser at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown. Stroke Life Society’s last comedy event, a big hit with stroke survivors, their families and friends, packed the house to capacity and left guests a little more lighthearted than when they arrived. A ticket donation is $20 and is 100 percent tax deductible; Governor’s requires a two-drink minimum. Tickets must be purchased in advance through www.strokelife.org or by calling 516-946-1548. For those interested in taking chances on baskets full of goodies (donated by local merchants), door prizes and their 50/50 raffle, doors will open at 6:30. The comedians will start promptly at 8 p.m.

Held by the Levittown School District. The prom is a way of recognizing and thanking senior citizens for their selfless and invaluable contributions to the school district and the community as a whole. Island Trees Senior Citizen’s Prom

Spring is here and it’s time for the Island Trees Senior Citizens’ Prom. The event will be held on Friday, May 18 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Island Trees Memorial Middle School. The tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in person at the Island Trees Middle School April 27 or May 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. or by mailing a self-addressed stamped envelope with check made payable to CAPIT to; CAPIT c/o Linda Rincon, 14 Mallard Rd., Levittown, NY 11756. Vendors Needed

The Wantagh Preservation Society will be holding its Spring Yard Sale on May 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain date May 20) on museum grounds, 1700 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh. Vendors Wanted For Flea Market

Vendors wanted for the Temple B’nai Torah of Wantagh, 2900 Jerusalem Ave., rain or shine Summer Flea Market on July 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sell your merchandise or promote your business in a spacious parking or the air-conditioned social hall and small party room in case of inclement weather to shoppers from the South Shore of Nassau County including Wantagh, Merrick, Bellmore, Seaford, East Meadow, Levittown, Massapequa, as well as parts of Suffolk and Queens County. Soldiers Angels

Soldiers Angels sends care packs to deployed troops all through the year. Cards and letters for our deployed troops, local veterans and for our wounded heroes are also needed. Soldiers Angels also accepts donations for our local veteran missions in the community. •Homemakers Club Levittown Day Chapter meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays at the VFW Hall Post #9592, Hickory Lane, Levittown. Call 579-4420.

•Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family.
