An unfortunate car accident unfolded recently on the evening of July 16th on Old Country Road, resulting in great physical and financial losses for many of the affected.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., a white box truck cut a red light whilst speeding, crashing into a small Buick and crushing it promptly after. The Buick’s hood was ripped off, with shreds of metal left across the road; the box truck’s momentum from the crash sent it into the air and flipped it as the truck landed sideways onto a Ford van, cleanly cutting off a portion of the van.
Police were forced to block off several blocks of Old Country Road for an hour and a half, in which time the Buick driver was ushered into an ambulance in critical condition. The van contained two occupants, both of which were also loaded into an ambulance. The box truck driver, however, only sustained a few small scratches and walked off after being hosed down; the vehicle he was driving was flipped right-side up by a crane approximately an hour after the crash, the action being performed successfully.
The woman driving the Buick remained in critical condition, while the driver of the box truck was not available for comment, having left after being washed via hose. Eyewitnesses reported that the entire crash was in fact a result of the truck’s initial speeding and cutting of a red light, stating that “whatever company that driver works for probably won’t exist soon enough.”
