Obituary: Albers, Frank

Frank Albers, Sr., formerly of Farmingdale, passed away on April 4, 2014 in S. Kortright, N.Y., at the age of 84 after complications from Parkinson’s Disease.  Frank was born on September 30, 1929 on Albers Farm, which was located on Albers Lane in Farmingdale and resided on Parkdale Drive in Farmingdale until he retired in 1986.

 

A graduate of Farmingdale High School in 1947, he owned and operated Center Island Auto Repair in East Meadow, from 1958 until his retirement in 1986.  In retirement, he kept himself busy working for the S. Kortright Central School District as a substitute teacher, school bus driver and school bus mechanic.  He also had an Antique Shop on his property and enjoyed restoring furniture.  

 

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris (Knobloch) Albers of S. Kortright: daughters Janet (Mike) Miller of Lake Wales, Fla.: Barbara (Kevin) Hill of Great River; Carol (Michael) Wowk of Bethlehem, Conn.; and a son Frank (Lynn) Albers, Jr of Cold Spring Harbor;  8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Also, surviving him is his brother Henry Albers of Sebastian, Fla.  Frank is predeceased by his sister, Audrey Vandereedt. A memorial mass was held on April 8, 2014 in S. Kortright, NY.
