Pedestrian Fatally Hit by LIRR Train Near Bethpage

A pedestrian was reportedly struck and killed by an eastbound Long Island Rail Road train near the Bethpage station on Tuesday evening.

The victim was hit shortly after 6 p.m. by the 5:09 p.m. train from Penn Station due in Speonk at 7:13 p.m., according to the MTA.

The victim’s identity was not released.

The train was more than an hour-and-a-half late once it got underway.

MTA Police are continuing the investigation into the cause of the incident.
