DJ Dancetime

On Aug. 14, Adventureland amusement park will be having a dance party, at 5 p.m., when DJ Dancetime will be spinning the hottest dance tracks and giving out awesome prizes. 

 

Zoning Board

The next meeting of the Village of Farmingdale Zoning Board will be held on Aug. 14, at 8 p.m., at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

Friday, Aug. 15

55th High School Reunion

In celebration of 55 years in Farmingdale, the Weldon E. Howitt High School Class of 1959 will be holding a class reunion from Aug. 15-17. No tickets will be sold at the door. Anyone interested in attending can contact 631-789-3261. 

 

Music Under the Stars

On Aug. 15, come to Ellsworth W. Allen Park, 45 Motor Ave. in Farmingdale, at 8 p.m., for a performance by the Elton John tribute band Remember When Rock Was Young.

Saturday, Aug. 16

Kayak the Nissequogue River 

On Aug. 16, join St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11:45 a.m. for this special excursion down the Nissequogue river. Cost is $28 per person. You will need sunscreen and shoes that can get wet. Bring your own snack and drinks along and eat lunch ahead of time.

FBLI Championship Day

On Aug. 16, join former New York Yankees pitcher Aaron Small as the Farmingdale Baseball League wraps up the 2014 9/11 Tournament. Game times TBA. 

 

Artisan Market

On Aug. 16, come to the village green along Main Street in Farmingdale from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for the village’s first ever Artisan Market. The Artisan Market will be open every Saturday through the month of August. 

Sunday, Aug. 17

Ducks Baseball Trip

On Aug. 17, join the St. Kilian Youth Ministry for a day of L.I. Ducks Baseball. The game starts at 5 p.m. at the field in Central Islip. You can arrange a ride or just meet there. Board of Trustees Work Session

The next public work session of the Village of Farmingdale Board of Trustees will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 18 at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

 

Vacation Bible School

From Aug. 18 through Aug. 22, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Farmingdale invite kids ages 3-12 to join them from 9 a.m.-noon for vacation bible school. Registration is $55 per child for members of the church, $65 per child for non-members and $35 for each additional child. All children must be toilet trained. The next meeting of the Village of Farmingdale Downtown Master Plan Implementation Committee will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale.

Movies on the Green: Night at the Museum 2

On Aug. 21, come to the village green at 8 p.m. for a showing of the film Night at the Museum 2. Rated PG, 105 minutes. The film follows security guard Larry Daley, played by Ben Stiller, who infiltrates the Smithsonian Institution to rescue his friends Jedediah and Octavius. 

 

McKevitt Mobile Office Hours

New York State Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R) will be hosting his annual mobile office hours, from 1-3 p.m., at the Farmingdale Public Library. On Aug. 21, come and meet with your local assemblyman and share your views or simply stop in to say hello.

 

Farmingdale Hawks

The next monthly meeting of the Farmingdale Hawks athletic league will be held on Aug. 21, from 8:30-10 p.m. at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

 

After Hours Networking

On Aug. 21, join the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce at Caracara Mexican Grill, 354 Main St. in Farmingdale, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., for its free monthly networking event. There will be complimentary appetizers and happy hour until 7 p.m. There will also be a free raffle for a $75 gift card to Caracara. All are welcome to attend. Be sure to bring your business cards.

Blood Drive

Give blood on Aug. 24, when the Village of Farmingdale will host its annual blood drive from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale.
