Last Hope Animal Rescue’s LOL Comedy Night

Chase away the winter blues by coming to Last Hope Animal Rescue’s LOL Comedy Night at Governor’s at 90 Division Ave., Levittown on Thursday, Feb. 26. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds will be donated to Last Hope to benefit the dog and cat adoption programs plus community outreach, such as the “Fix-A- Feral” voucher program. There is a two drink minimum. Governor’s offers a full menu so come early and have dinner. There will be a selection of raffle baskets and a 50/50. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for an 8 p.m. show and seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Purchase tickets at www.lasthopeanimalrescue.org, or by mailing a check to Last Hope, PO Box 7025, Wantagh, NY 11793. All tickets purchased by Feb. 20 will be mailed and tickets purchased after will be available at will call. No tickets will be sold the night of the event. Personalized Door Hanger Craft

Enjoy a fun craft project at Michael’s. Meet in the classroom from 10 a.m.-noon to create and have fun by making your own door hanger. Recommended for ages 3 and up. Supplies Included with $2 fee per child. Michael’s is located at 3675 Hempstead Tpke., Levittown. To register, call 516-735-0786.

 

Bowling for Singles

The Singles Association of Long Island invites singles aged 25 and up to enjoy a night of bowling at South Levittown Lanes from 7-9 p.m. Cost is $7 per game and $4 for shoes. South Levittown Lanes is located at 56 Tanners Ln., Levittown. A social gathering will continue afterwards at the Empress Diner located at 2490 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow. 65th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Hosted by the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, the 65th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off at 1p.m. from County Seat Dr. in Mineola. Pat O’Hanlon has been named this year’s grand marshal. The parade will proceed to Mineola Blvd., north to Jericho Tpke., then right on Jericho to pass the reviewing stand. The Irish American Society Center at 297 Willis Ave. in Mineola will be open to the public following the parade, at 2 p.m. Join for light refreshments, Irish music and dancing. Admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 are free.

Founder’s Day Nominations

The Island Trees PTA Council will once again be sponsoring a Founder’s Day Celebration on Thursday, April 30 at the Council of PTA’s District Dinner. The Island Trees PTSA plans to honor a teacher/staff member from Island Trees Memorial Middle School and Island Trees High School. A special committee will select winners. The criteria for the award recipient are as follows: Promotes the welfare of students, strives to secure for his/her students the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education and has an open line of communication with parents. Please submit your recommendations to ITPTSA Founder’s Day Committee, Attention: Maureen Dieppa, by Friday, March 6.  All recommendations must be signed and anonymous letters will not be considered. The committee will announce the award-winning teachers during the District Dinner on April 30. Call Maureen Dieppa at 516-796-6563 with any questions.
