Village Board of Trustees Meeting

The next regularly scheduled board of trustees meetings will be held at 8 p.m. at village hall which is located at 351 Stewart Ave. in Garden City. For more information, please call 516-465-4000 or visit www.gardencityny.net.

Once Upon a Mattress Preview/Dinner

Senior citizens are invited to a Garden City Teachers Association (GCTA)-sponsored dinner in the high school cafeteria followed by a special preview of Once Upon a Mattress. Both events are free. Registration is required and will be handled by Patty Mannion, who can be reached at 516-478-2445 or at mannionp@gcufsd.net.

Once Upon a Mattress

Today and Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. in the Garden City High School auditorium, the Masquers will be performing Once Upon a Mattress, the Broadway show adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea. Mad Hatter Tea Party

Children ages 2 ½ through 5 (not in kindergarten) and an adult caregiver. can join children’s librarian Donna Furey and programmer Marie Ilardi for a Mad Hatter Tea Party, which will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. Registration begins online on Eventkeeper (www.gardencitypl.org) on Monday, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m. You need to do a separate registration for each child you want to attend the program. Due to limited room capacity, only one child and one adult will be allowed in per registration. Please arrive promptly. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list. Marvelous Movie Matinée

A screening of the 2001 spy thriller The Tailor of Panama starring Pierce Brosnan and Geoffrey Rush will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. The event will be held in Meeting Room B. Funding is provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. The library is located at 60 7th St. For more information, please call 516-742-8405.

Wednesday, March 11

Irish Night

The Garden City Republican Club will be hosting an 8 p.m. Irish Night at St. Paul’s Senior Center located at 108 Rockaway Ave in Garden City. The speaker will be Garden City Police Commissioner Kenneth Jackson who will speak on how his department is keeping the village safe. B.K. Sweeney’s Uptown Grill will keep with the Irish Night theme by providing corned beef sliders. There will also be a raffle held where two winners will get gift certificates to the Franklin Avenue-based B.K. Sweeney’s Uptown Grille.

Defensive Driving Courses

Six-hour course were conducted by AAA in the Garden City office located at 229 7th St. After March 1, courses will now be held in Homewood Suites by Hilton located at 40 Westbury Ave. in Carle Place. Save money; reduce violation points; sharpen skills. The cost is $39 for AAA members; $32 members 60 and older; $55 nonmembers. Dates and rates subject to change. Online class available.
