Reading Programs At Bryant Library

Read-Lib

ReadLib_072215AAs the summer of 2015 hits its peak, the Bryant Library continues to hold its highly-successful Every Hero Has A Story reading program. Earlier in the month, the library hosted a presentation by Mad Science of Long Island.

Upcoming programs with availability include Living in Space and Heroes of Invention. Go to the library’s children’s department for the availability of each program.

Library officials continue to invite local youngsters to be part of its Super Hero Training Academy. Students can enter guessing contests and pick up prizes. All levels of readers are invited to participate. In all, nine classes, for students entering grades 1-6, are visiting the library this summer. Each program is geared specifically for each class including a PowerPoint, stories, film, and book selection.

In the meantime, library officials advise both youngsters and their parents to beat the summer slide by reading.

“Students who skip reading during the summer break, lose out on the opportunity to maintain the skills they’ve learned and improve their vocabulary and reading comprehension,” a library statement commented. “Parents making the commitment to include regular visits to the library can foster that love of reading all summer long. Enjoy summer reading, we are here to get you started and keep you going strong.”

The Bryant Library is at 2 Paper Mill Road. Call 516-621-2240.
