Civil War Lecture

The North Shore Historical Museum will host a presentation at 7 p.m. on “The Toffeys and The Wordens: A Family Goes To War 1861-1865.” Bill Finlayson discusses the experiences of four of his family members in the American Civil War, including: a secret mission to save Fort Pickens, becoming the very first Union prisoner of war, the Battle of the Monitor and the Merrimack, the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Chattanooga, the Assassination of President Lincoln and being awarded the Medal of Honor. Sail The Sound For Deafness

Mill Neck Family’s fourth annual “Sail the Sound for Deafness” Classics Regatta & Cocktail Party. Join the Mill Neck Family of Organizations, Oakcliff Sailing Center and The WaterFront Center, among other local establishments, for an evening sailboat race in Oyster Bay and Long Island Sound. Movie At The Library

See Survivor at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. A Foreign Service Officer newly posted to the American embassy in London is charged with stopping terrorists from getting into the U.S. After surviving a vicious attack on the embassy, she finds herself framed for crimes she didn’t commit and racing to elude assassins while trying to clear her name and stop a large-scale terrorist attack set for New Year’s Eve. Starring: Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan, Dylan Mcdermott, Angela Bassett, James D’Arcy and Robert Forrester (Rated PG-13 for violence, some action and brief strong language, 96 min.).

Pajama Storytime

At the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 7 p.m., for kids ages 9 months to 3, with an adult. Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal to listen to some great bedtime books, sing songs and enjoy a snack. Registration required.

Thursday Night PJ Storytime

Wear your pajamas and head to the library to cozy up for a summertime story at The Bayville Library, 7 p.m. For ages 2 to 12. Register online.

Lego Club

Join the group in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library’s green room, where children can build whatever they can imagine. All Lego creations will remain in the library. Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration. 10 a.m. to noon.

Music Under The Stars

See Cavemollies (classic rock) perform at the Incorporated Village of Bayville’s Music Under the Stars, an annual free summer concert series at West Harbor Memorial Beach in Bayville. The concerts are Friday evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. (weather permitting) and are free to the general public.

Midsummer Nights Dream Cruise

Spend Friday nights at Ransom Beach, 11 Bayville Ave. in Bayville, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Spectators are free, or the cost is $5 to show a car. Belle Voci Intergenerational Choir

Concert begins at 4 p.m. at Christ Church, 61 E. Main St., Oyster Bay. Jennifer Scott Miceli, Ph.D., founding director. Featuring works by Childs, Conte, Gawthrop, and Hildegarde von Bingen. Admission $20; $15 for students and seniors. Belle Voci performs to raise funds for cancer prevention and cure. Proceeds from concert ticket sales are donated to The American Cancer Society.

Morgan Park Summer Music

The music continues in Morgan Memorial Park this week with Jimmy and The Parrots, a Jimmy Buffet Tribute. This concert is sponsored by PSEG Long Island. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. Morgan Park overlooks the harbor at Germaine Street between Landing Road and McLoughlin Street in Glen Cove. Bring chairs or blankets, and a picnic if you wish. Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays 11 a.m. to noon. If you are in need of their services at other times, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.

Hats Off! Exhibition

Hats Off!, the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s summer exhibition, is currently on view in the society’s Angela Koenig Center at 20 Summit St. in Oyster Bay, through Sept. 13. Hats Off!
